Colonial Chemical Announces Senior Leadership Promotions

SOUTH PITTSBURG, TENN. (January 22, 2021): Colonial Chemical, Inc. is pleased to announce two new promotions at the company. Effective January 25th, David Anderson, Jr. will be promoted to the position of President. In his new role, David will assume responsibility for the total operation of Colonial Chemical, Inc. and to lead in the company’s strategic goals and future expansion.

David Jr. joined Colonial Chemical in December 2009 as Northeast Territory Manager, the first full-time salesperson for the company. He has progressed through the positions of Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. David Jr. has a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts degree from Yale University. Prior to Colonial, his previous position was four years with Robert Walters in Tokyo, Japan as a Technical Recruiter and Manager of the IT Sales & Marketing Recruitment Team.

David Anderson, Sr., the company founder, has been named to the position of Chairman. Mr. Anderson, Sr. has been with the company for 33 years and working on his 49th year in the surfactant industry. As Chairman, his primary role will be to lend his experience, knowledge and expertise to coach and consult with the management team and ensure Colonial continues to grow and be successful. Mr. Anderson, Sr. will also be active in the startup and development of the newly announced Colonial Chemical M.E. Arabia.

Colonial Chemical Announces Formation of Colonial Chemical M.E. Arabia

SOUTH PITTSBURG, TENN. (January 20, 2021): Colonial Chemical, Inc. is pleased announce the start of construction of a new specialty chemicals manufacturing plant in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The new facility is named Colonial Chemical M.E. Arabia. This facility is a joint venture with Sadeem Investments and Earth’s Reservoir for Oil and Gas, EROG. Colonial Chemical, Inc. is providing the technology and operations knowledge for the plant while Sadeem Investments and EROG are responsible for local operational oversight and construction support. The Board of Directors overseeing the joint venture is headed by David Anderson, Colonial Chemical, Inc. President, as the Chairman. Mohammed Abduldaim, EROG President, is the Vice-Chairman, and other members include Dr. Peter Chetcuti, David Anderson Jr and Douglas Wynn.

This operation will primarily provide a source of locally manufactured specialty surfactants and other chemicals for oilfield, industrial lubricants, water treatment, paper, paints, coatings, personal care, household, and industrial cleaning applications. The new plant will offer manufacturing technology capabilities for a variety of chemicals as well as toll blending capability for finished formulations and custom chemical manufacture. The plant will allow customers in Saudi Arabia and the region to achieve high local content levels required by localization initiatives such as IKTVA, NUSANED and NIDLP.

Construction is underway on a nine-acre plant that will include reaction vessels, distillation columns, toll blending and mixing vessels, pilot scale equipment for development, warehousing and tank farms. Additionally, construction will include state-of-the-art laboratories for R&D and formulation development and administrative offices for supply chain and customer service personnel. The plant will also house packaging and labeling operations.

Manufacturing operations are expected to commence in Q4 2021. Raw materials will be sourced locally to produce amine oxides, quaternary ammonium compounds, hydroxypropyl sultaines, betaines, propionates, ether carboxylates, imidazolines, phosphate esters, EPI-sulfonates, and phosphates.

Colonial Chemical Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Finished Goods Warehouse at World Headquarters in New Hope, TN.

Colonial Chemical was pleased to host a groundbreaking celebration today of its newest warehouse addition to the plant in New Hope, TN.  Elected officials from throughout Marion County were in attendance along with members from the staff.

The 26,000 square foot building is space for chemical drum racks and tote storage with five additional truck bays. Office space and locker rooms are included for shipping and sampling personnel, along with a lounge area for truck drivers to wait during loadings. The new building will be erected by Gann Construction of South Pittsburg, TN.

“This has already been a busy year at Colonial Chemical – we have upgraded significant systems in our plant, added additional reactor equipment, and moved our administrative offices into a new building,” said David Anderson, President, Colonial Chemical. “We have outgrown our existing warehouses for storage – and we’ve needed additional loading bays for the increased traffic that’s pouring into our plant.  Our new warehouse addition will meet our needs for the immediate future.” The new building is adjacent to existing warehouse facilities. Anderson also explained that even as Colonial Chemical is gearing up for new warehouse space, at least two other buildings – including an R&D lab that connects to the new administration building – are in the works.

Colonial Chemical Announces New Office and Staff for Netherlands

Colonial Chemical has announced the official opening of a new sales and regulatory support office in Amsterdam and the appointment of dedicated staff. Dr. Barae Jomaa will assume the role of International Regulatory Affairs Specialist for Colonial Chemical EU B.V. to better meet the needs of growing regulatory demands throughout the EU regions.

“Dr. Jomaa brings extensive regulatory affairs experience from his years at Akzo Nobel in coordinating the compliance processes necessary for global listings, including REACH. He is a PhD certified toxicologist and member of the Dutch Society of Toxicology. A speaker of English, French and Dutch, Barae brings strong knowledge in chemical control regulations and product safety. We’re placing Barae in a unique role for Colonial and we are delighted to have him join our team,” states Lizette Bonvin, Regulatory Affairs Manager. “His experience and location in Europe will help to strengthen our support, availability, and Regulatory commitment to our global customers.”

Colonial Chemical, Inc. announced that it has been approved for GMP for Cosmetics ISO 22716:2007 as well as renewal for the ISO 9001:2015. These guidelines provide a system of processes, procedures and documentation to assure a product has the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity that appear on the product label.

Awarded by SRI Quality System Registrar, this certification requires a rigorous process analyzing various aspects of the company including personnel, organizational structure, documentation and equipment in general.
